Cinchonism

1. A pathological condition resulting from an overdose of cinchona bark or its alkaloid derivatives and marked by headache, dizziness, hearing loss, and ringing in the ears.
2. In <em>pathology</em>, a disturbed condition of the system, characterized by excessive buzzing in the ears, the result of overdoses of cinchona or quinine.
3. A condition produced by the excessive or long-continued use of quinine, and marked by deafness, roaring in the ears, vertigo, etc.
4. A <xref>pathological</xref> condition in <xref>humans</xref> caused by an <xref>overdose</xref> of <xref>quinine</xref> or its natural source, <xref>cinchona</xref> <xref>bark</xref>.
